The driver in use is the standard b34-pci-bridge and I`m wondering if broadcom-wl or even the brcmfmac option that I see in wiki. Memory at d0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) Memory at d0500000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) AirPort Extreme įlags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 $ lspci -vnn -d 14e4: tells me this about my wifi card: $ lspci -vnn -d 14e4:Ġ2:00.0 Network controller : Broadcom Inc. Mac - ArchWiki () - Based on these docs, where we can see version 4,x models would work fine from kernel 3.2, but since my actual kernel is 5.8.10-arch1-1 and wifi card won't work, I'm assuming there's something wrong, meaning that: a) docs might be wrong or b) the computer is messed up (which I doubt, since Mac OS X runs on wifi nicelly or c) I'm missing something.Įither way, I've tried to fetch some info regarding this problem. I just have some doubts that I'd like to share to see if anyone ever had bumped into something like this before. Right now, I'm in a live session from this EndeavourOS bootable disk from which I intend to install Arch. So since I will need to work this out manually, I ditched Lubuntu and Ubuntu as an option and decided to install Arch - which is way better documented, have a helpful community imo and I've managed to make it run on way lower-end computers before. I remember having this problem with another MacBook I had (7,1) and I had to use an WiFi dongle for it to be able to connect but in this case it didn't worked. I've downloaded Lubuntu and went to try livedisk but from the start, the WiFi card couldn't connect. I'm willing to install Linux on it for many reasons - major one being the lack of support for the latest Mac OS X version I could run on it. I have this old MacBook white (4,1 1.0) which I've upgraded with 4gigs RAM sticks and a 240gigs SSD. Thanks to everybody who commented and gave me a piece of wisdom on this subject. Now I got to find out how to change my keyboard layout for bspwm because I need punctuation lol. Not sure which got the wifi working but it is working fine. Redid that in the proper way, installing with Manjaro_architetech using std linux-firmware and b43-fwcutter as it was suggested in wiki for models 2,1 from 2009. So I figured out the partition table was wrong. UPDATE: after I installed Arch normally as I would do in my other machine, it wouldn't load the system.
